Abstract

In the operating room, Anesthesiology recommends reinforced endotracheal tubes that prevent collapse or kinking during prolonged surgical procedures that needs a prone positioning. Under general anesthesia these devices are safe, but in lightly-sedated pediatric patients in the Pediatric ICU, acute tube obstruction could be a fatal complication.
