El manejo del SPP en adultos ha mostrado buenos resultados en sobrevida y resultados neurológicos, incorporando la angioplastia de emergencia y el manejo de la temperatura post recuperación de la RCE. Ya sabemos que el PC pediátrico tiene peor pronóstico que el de adultos por su origen asfíctico. Como ya veremos en los casos post paro de pediatría, lo que hagamos en esta etapa es muy importante, pero el pronóstico final dependerá de la causa del paro y del tiempo que el niño haya estado sin oxígeno y sin perfusión de los órganos. Un porcentaje importante de niños que son inicialmente reanimados fallecen luego de la RCE, en los días o semanas siguientes, y esto puede ocurrir por fracaso hemodinámico, muerte cerebral o adecuación del esfuerzo terapéutico.
