Abstract

Abdominal organ transplantation is one of the most popular surgical procedures in the last two decades, offering a longer life expectancy in patients with conditions related to end-stage organ failure. The development of chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a major public health problem, where average prevalences of 7.2% in individuals over 30 years of age have been described in the literature, which has motivated the development of new therapies aimed at objectives in the case of patients with end-stage renal disease1. In the case of kidney transplantation, it is reserved for patients with advanced end-stage CKD, which is defined as an affectation on renal filtration where the glomerular filtration rate is less than 30 ml/min/1.73 m2. Other indications are correlated with glomerulonephritis, pyelonephritis, hereditary diseases, metabolic disorders, post-renal nephropathies, systemic collagen diseases, tumors, congenital conditions, among others2,3.
