Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of complementary systems (Xp-Endo Finisher R and PUI) in the removal of bioceramic cement RCS (Septodont) at the level of dentinal tubules. Methodology: Thirty-six distobuccal roots were instrumented and filled with the single cone technique and Bioroot cement, being stored in an incubator for 30 days. They were unblocked with the XP-Endo Retreatment system and randomly divided into three groups. Group 1: no complementary system, Group 2: Xp-endo Finisher R was used and Group 3: PUI was used. The samples were observed in SEM and the data was analyzed using the Chi Square test. Results: There were no significant differences between PUI and Xp-Endo Finisher R in cement removal in the cervical and middle thirds (p > 0.080 and p > 0.085, respectively), but there were for the apical third (p < 0.029). Conclusion: The use of complementary systems increases the cleaning of the dentinal tubules during the retreatment of the bioceramic cement.
